KATARZYNA DESZCZ
Graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Jagiellonian University and the Stage Management Faculty of the State Theatre School in Kraków. From 1982 to 2003, together with Andrzej Sadowski, led the Mandala Theatre, in which many of her own artistic projects, presented on hundreds of theatre stages in Poland and abroad. In the repertoire theatre has been staging since 1991 cooperates with a dozen of dramatic stages, performing mostly the classical texts and modern drama. Since 1995 has been cooperating with the London theatre: ‘Scarlet’, preparing projects presented on the stages in England, Ireland and Scotland. From 2003 to 2006 was a General and Artistic Director of the A. Mickiewicz Theatre in Częstochowa. Apart from spectacles staging, she deals with the pedagogy. Since 1992 she has been giving a lectures for the directors and actors in various theatre centers in Poland, England, Egypt, India, Ireland, Japan, Germany and the USA. From 1993 to 1994 she was a lecturer in Darlington College of Art in Devon ( England) and from 1999-2008 – of the Fine Art Academy in Kraków. In 2003 in Britain the biographical book by Geraldine Cousin Recording Woman was edited; the book was devoted to her work methods considering the spectacles staging. One of the most prestigious British Colleges – The Central School of Speech and Drama implemented her method of the text and actors workshop studies into its fix teaching program.
