JOSEPH MALOVANY

Joseph Malovany is one of the most distinguished Jewish artists in the world and the most famous cantor nowadays. His unique, clear voice- tenor spinto – reflects everything what is beautiful in the classical Jewish music. Some call him the “Pavarotti of synagogues”. However, Malovany does not limit himself to synagogue recitals; he often performs the secular repertoire: oratories, opera arias, Hasidic pieces and even Neapolitan melodies. He can be proud of producing several CD’s.
For over thirty years he has been the cantor of the famous Synagogue o¬n Fifth Avenue in New York and he is a Professor of Liturgical Music at Yeshiva University in New York. Cantor Malovany is also dean of the Moscow Academy of Jewish Music. He has been distinguished by Music Academy in Tel Aviv as well as Royal Academy of Music in England. Furthermore, he is a Fellow of the Trinity College of Music.
Joseph Malovany has sung with many international orchestras, in the most prestigious concert halls: in the Capitol in Washington, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, Kneset In Jeruzalem, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York, Royal Festival Hall in London as well as Cité de la Musique in Paris. In Mai 2005, together with the Polish- German Young Dolny Śląsk Philhrmonic and The White Stork Synagogue Choir he gave a concert in Parieserplatz in Berlin, to honor the ceremonies attendant upon the unveiling the Monument to the Murdered Jews of Europe.
