STANISŁAW RODZIŃSKI
Born in Kraków, in 1940. Studied at the Faculty of Painting at the Fine Arts Academy in Kraków (ASP) – obtained a diploma in a workroom of Prof. Emil Krcha. Since 1963 has been very active as an artist and a teacher – since 1981 at the Fine Arts Academy in Kraków (ASP). From 1993 till 1996 Dean of the Faculty of Painting, 1996-2002 Rector of this Academy. From 1999 to 2000 chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Art Schools. In ’80 he was a lecturer at the Papal Theological Academy in Kraków and since 1985 he has been cooperating with the Institute of Pedagogy at the Jagiellonian University. He has become a factual member of the Polish Academy of Abilities, the Science Society in Sandomierz. In 1991 – 1992 the member of the Culture Council by the Prime Minister of Poland. Doctor Honoris causa at the Wrocław Academy of Fine Arts. Since 1968 has been acting as publicist and essayist in the scope of art. Cooperatorof Tygodnik Powszechny (General Weekly), Znak (Sign), Więzi (Bonds), Gość Niedzielny (Sudany Guest), Dekada Literacka (Literary Decade); his texts were published among others in Dziennik Polski (Polish Daily), Odra, Kultura Paryska (Paris Culture), Ethos (KUL), Życie (Life), Rzeczpospolita (Commonwealth), Sztuka Sakralna (Sacral Art), Projekt (Project), Życie Duchowe (Spiritual Life), Horyzonty Wychowania (Upbringing Horizons). Author of the books containing texts about the art. From 1963 to 2005 participated in more than 100 individual exhibitions, among others in Kraków, Warszawa, Wrocław, Częstochowa, Tarnów, Nowy Sącz, Lublin, Jaworzno, Łódź, Olkusz, Miechów, Nowy Targ, Wiedeń, Rzym, London, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and Paris.
Prizes and distinctions: 1977 – golden medal of TPSP in Kraków, 1978 – Golden Badge of ZPAP, 1981 – the City of Kraków Prize, 1985 – the Museum Award of Warszawa Archdiocese, Scholarship of John Paul II Institute of Christian Culture in Rome, 1988 – the Prize of A. Jurzykowski Foundation in New York, 1993 – the Kraków Voivode Award for painting, publicism and educational activities, Cavalier's Cross of the Order of Poland’s Restitution, Medal of National Education Committee, 1994 – Scholarship of Janineum Foundation in Wien, 1998 – The Officer's Cross of the Order of Poland's Restitution, 2000 – the Award of Ministry of Culture and National Heritage for the painting achievements and the esseistics, 2005 – Silver Medal: Meritorious for Culture ‘Gloria Artis’.
