KATARZYNA SUSKA-ZAGÓRSKA
Born in Częstochowa. In 1986 graduated from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Philology Faculty (film industry), and a year later she obtained with the distinction the diploma of the Kraków Music Academy, in the singing class of Izabella Jasińska-Buszewicz. Her debut on the opera stage took place in 1986, during the Festival of Flanders. In the same year she was awarded the prize for the modern work performance and the special Mozart prize during the 2nd Ada Sari Contest of the Vocal Art in Nowy Sącz. In 1988 she was a finalist of the Luciano Pavarotti Contest in Philadelphia, and next, as a holder of the scholarship of the Italian government, studied by Aida Filevi in Milano. In the same year the soloist received the award of the Silesian theatre and music criticism, the Golden Mask for the title role of Carmen on the Silesian Opera stage in Bytom. Katarzyna Suska gives concerts in Poland and abroad, cooperating with the distinctive conductors such as: Helmuth Rilling, Kazimierz Kord, Antoni Wit, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jerzy Maksymiuk as well as taking part in the prestigious festivals: “Wratislavia Cantans”, Warsaw Autumn, Valencia Festival and many others. Katarzyna Suska in a versatile artist, participating in both, the oratorio and chamber concerts, singing on the concerts and opera stages. In the artist’s opera repertoire the special role play the characters featuring in the Mozart and Moniuszko operas. As a soloist of the Great Theatre – the National Opera in Warsaw, Katarzyna Suska performs the main mezzo-soprano parts. She has also recorded numerous CD’s.
