PAWEŁ GUSNAR
Graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw. Paweł Gusnar is one of the few saxophonists who moves freely between classical music, jazz, and pop. He took part in numerous festivals, such as Warszawska Jesień [the Warsaw Autumn], Sacrum-Profanum (Cracow), the Music & Film Festival (Warsaw), European Union Music Festival (Warsaw), L. van Beethoven Easter Festival (Warsaw), Music Festival (Marl), Hi Seoul Festival (Seul), La Folle Journée "L'Harmonie des Peuples" (Nantes), Komeda Music Festival (Łódź), as well as Baltic Song Festival (Karlshamn), Top Trendy Festival (Sopot), Festival of Polish Song in Opole, Sopot Festival. The artist regularly co-operates with the Kukla Band conducted by Zygmunt Kukla, the Orchestra of Tomasz Szymuś, and orchestra of the 'Roma' Music Theatre in Warsaw, additionally, he frequently plays with the Adam Sztaba orchestra and Aleksander Maliszewski's Alex Band. He is the founder and leader of the Akademia Saxophone Quartet. He has a record of performances under many famous conductors, such as S. Skrowaczewski, T. Strugała, K. Penderecki, W. Rajski, A. Wit, K. Kord, J. Maksymiuk, W. Michniewski, M. Minkowski, A. Duczmal, R. Beck, R. Rivolta, Y. Pascal Tortielier, Ennio Morricone, or Jose Cura. As the soloist, the artist has cooperated with such orchestras as Amadeus, orchestra of the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw, Concertus Pro Arte, orchestra of the Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester), Łódź Philharmonic Orchestra, Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, performing the music of Glazunov, Milhaud, Cascen, Gershwin, or Piazzola. Paweł Gusnar gave numerous premiere performances of pieces by contemporary composers. In 2007 Musica Sacra published his first solo CD, entitled 'New Polish Music for saxophone and organ’. Since 2003 Paweł Gusnar has taught the saxophone class at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, and the Kiejstut and Grażyna Bacewicz Music Academy in Łódź.
