Włodzimierz Siedlik
Włodzimierz Siedlik is a graduate of the Music Academy in Cracow, the Liturgical Institute of the Papal Academy of Theology in Cracow (diploma with distinction) and the Course in Voice Production of the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz (diploma with distinction). He is a prize winner of the National Competition for Choral Conductors in Poznań in 1990. In 1990-1992 he was in the director of the Paderewski Centre in Tarnów. In 1991 he set up the Tarnów Chamber Orchestra. In 1992-1996 he served as director of the State Music Schools in Tarnów. His work as a conductor with various choral ensembles such as „Cantus”, „Psalmodia” Choir of John Paul II Papal University in Cracow (since 1988) and Academic Choir of Jagiellonian University (1994-2001 and since 2006) has brought him numerous awards and honourable mentions in Poland and abroad. In 2000, as part of the events celebrating 75 years of Polish Radio, he was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit. In 2001 he received the Jerzy Kurczewski Prize, awarded for outstanding achievements as a conductor by the Chapter whose honorary patron is Krzysztof Penderecki. In 2008, on the occasion of 60th anniversary of Polish Radio Choir in Cracow, he was awarded the Honourable Golden Microphone. In the same year during the Marian Song Festival in Pińczów he was awarded the Special Prize of the Marshal of Świętokrzyskie Province and “Honoris gratia” Medal of the Mayor of Cracow City. In 2010 he was awarded the Order of Merit for Polish Culture granted by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Since 1994 ha has been working in Church Music Faculty of Church History Department of John Paul II Papal University in Cracow. From 1995 till 2010 Włodzimierze Siedlik was the Director and the Artistic Manager of the Polish Radio Choir in Krakow, which was founded in 1948 by Jerzy Gert.
