Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria

Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria is one of the most famous Bulgarian choirs and has enchanted with its unique art many listeners from all over the world.
It was founded in 1994 by the music producer Emil Minev and the conductor Vania Moneva. The conductor set her ambitious goal to turn the choir into the most sufficient female ensemble for Bulgarian folklore music and to present and perform with the choir the unique, and emblematic Bulgarian folklore music. The characteristic sound of the singers is typical for the Balkan culture. Already within the first several years after its foundation, Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria turns into one of the leading Bulgarian choirs. Today this unique choir includes 18 female singers carefully selected by numerous castings in different regions in Bulgaria. The Choir’s vast repertoire includes not only folklore songs, but also Orthodox Music, Music for Symphony Orchestra and Choir, Jazz-World Repertoire and Music for international Movie Soundtrack Productions. Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria recorded also some music for the Italian Film Production of "NOMAD II 2005", music by Carlo Siliotto and the Japanese cartoon - "KIBA", music by Jun Miyake.
The choir has worked on numerous CD productions with internationally acclaimed artists such as Vesselina Kasarova - BMG Classic/Red Seal - her CD with Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria "Bulgarian Soul" earned the ECHO Award in 2004, Christian Kolonovits, Ikuko Kawai - JVC Victor Japan, Yoko Kanno - JVC Victor Japan.
The singers of Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria performed in Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Holland, Israel, Italy, Moldavia, Montenegro and Portugal. They had concerts at NATO base in Sarajevo and for the UN Mission in Vienna.
Due to its high professionalism and remarkable artistic interpretations, Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria provokes the interest of many Bulgarian and international composers, who have written especially for the choir some music.
The artistic activity of the Choir was a subject matter of many documentaries, produced and broadcasted by national and international radio and television channels.
