Schola Cantorum Misericordis Christi
„Schola Cantorum Misericordis Christi” the Youth Choir of Merciful Christ Parish in Biała Podlaska was founded in December 1996. Its main aim is musical setting of liturgies in the parish. The choir was founded by Dr. Piotr Karwowski, who is also its conductor. „Schola Cantorum Misericordis Christi” consists of over 100 choristers between the ages 7 and 25. The choir performed in numerous Polish cities but also in France (1997, 2002), Lithuania (1998), Belarus (1999), Russia (1999), Slovakia (2008), Sweden (2009), Ukraine (2001, 2006) and Italy (2000, 2011). The choristers took part in the Ceremonial Mass with the Holy Father John Paul II on 10th June 1999 in Siedlce. On 26th August 2001 „Schola Cantorum Misericordis Christi” performed during the special concert in commemoration of Prof. Stefan Stuligrosz on the occasion of his 81st birthday and on 4th October 2009 the choristers performed in the Assembly Hall of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań on the occasion of 70th anniversary of “Poznań Nightingales” Choir. The choir took part in five National Congresses of “Pueri Cantores” and in tree International ones: in Lyon (2002), Cracow (2007) and Stockholm (2009). Since June 2009 "Schola Cantorum Misericordis Christi" has been a member of Polish and International Federation „Pueri Cantores”. In September 2004 the choristers performed during the 1st Polish Congress of Liturgical Music in Cracow and in 2006 they performed during the celebration of 400th anniversary of Marian Sanctuary in Latyczów in Ukraine. In October 2011 the choir was responsible for the musical setting of 2nd World Congress of Merciful God in Cracow. "Schola Cantorum Misericordis Christi" recorded nine CDs and a cycle of radio programmes titled A school of liturgical singing.
Piotr Karwowski
A founder and a conductor of „Schola Cantorum Misericordis Christi” the Youth Choir of Merciful Christ Parish in Biała Podlaska. In 1997 he graduated from the Art Department of the Music Institute of the Pedagogical Academy in Częstochowa. He continued his education at Postgraduate Studies for Choirmasters of Music Academy in Bydgoszcz. In 2008 under the supervision of Prof. Stefan Stuligrosz he gained his doctor degree in music in the field of conducting from Music Academy in Poznań. From 1990 till 1997 he was a director of the Youth Choir of the Blessed Virgin Mary the Mother of Church Parish in Łuków. Since 1996 he has been the organist in Merciful Christ Parish in Biała Podlaska. He is a founder member of Polish Church Musicians Association and a vice-president of Polish Federation “Pueri Cantores”. Since 2001 he has been a president of the board of Sacred Music Lovers Association in Biała Podlaska.
